Try these new coffee alternatives

These days, we are constantly feeling the pressure to be productive and action-oriented, so most of us automatically grab a coffee. But is there anything you can substitute it with?

The truth is that caffeine doesn’t give us energy in the first place, but it “dulls” our sleepy response so that the body forgets that it’s tired. Therefore, we have to be careful with caffeine, because large amounts of it have (among other things) a negative effect on the quality of our sleep. But if you can’t deny yourself, here are some tips on what you can substitute for coffee.

1. Chicory coffee

Chicory root (like coffee beans) can be roasted, ground, and cooked. It tastes very similar to coffee but is decaffeinated.

Plus, you can buy the root pre-ground and roasted, so the drink is easy to prepare.

2. Matcha
You’ve probably heard of matcha. It’s basically a concentrated green tea. Its made from tea plants whose leaves are dried and ground into a fine green powder.
Matcha contains lots of caffeine and also the amino acid theanine, which is an anti-stress agent.

3. Gyokuro

In Japan, Gyokuro is considered a very rare green tea. For its preparation, only the plant’s top leaves are used. It has a very mild, sweet taste and many health benefits. This makes it one of the best and highest quality green teas.

Interestingly, it is made from the same plant as matcha, just in a different way.

4. Chai

Chai is a type of black tea mixed with strong spices and herbs. Its big plus is that it has antioxidant qualities.

In addition to its health benefits, it has a very specific taste and smell that can be reminiscent of Christmas.

5. Rooibos Tea

Rooibos, also known as red tea, comes from South Africa and is decaffeinated. It contains a large number of antioxidants and has a slightly sweet, fruity taste.

6. Golden Milk

This drink contains spices such as ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, and turmeric. It is also commonly flavored with vanilla or honey.

It is a traditional Indian drink that has anti-inflammatory benefits, is full of antioxidants, and boosts immunity.

7. Wayusa

Wayusa is an herbal tea that contains naturally occurring caffeine and therefore gives you energy. It is particularly popular in South America, specifically in Ecuador. It is made from the leaves of the holly tree, which comes from the Amazon rainforest. This drink is said to give you “healthy energy”.

It also has many health benefits — it is a source of antioxidants, vitamins, and amino acids.

8. Yerba mate

Yerba mate is an herbal tea, especially popular in South America. It can be served both hot and cold and, like black tea, contains caffeine.
